The Judging panel announced the prize at a ceremony with over 450 attendees, hosted by Irish Medical times and presented by Dr. Pixie McKenna (GP) and television personality of Granada’s “Embarrassing Bodies“ series.
The competition, now in its 12th year, is a highly prestigious event on the Irish healthcare calendar and recognizes the best projects in the Irish healthcare sector.
Mr. Lloyd Mudiwa, Editor of the Irish Medical Times, praised the “high level of entries across all categories” and highlighted “the remarkable standard”. He thanked the judging panel and praised the project saying individuals should be “extremely proud of the outstanding achievement”.

Dr. Hegarty complimented his colleagues on the CRPS Committee saying that the prize is the “perfect reward for the hard work put in behind the scenes and for the industry sponsors who made the first international pain meeting in Cork a reality”. The conference had the highest attendance of over 240 delegates ever with 21 different nations represented. The meeting was also awarded the “Best international Medical Meeting 2017” by Failte Ireland and Cork Convention Bureau and contributed over €350,000 to the local economy.
